“Whoa Bob…what the fuck is this?! Fuckin’ disco music?! You can’t be serious – this is fuckin’ bullshit! W-wha-what’s next Bob, some cheesy little fucking lead synth?! Oh fuck! C’mon man…ha ha…can we rock shit?! Yeah, now we’re talkin’ – turn those fuckin’ guitars up – let’s do this! Uhhhrr!”
Lost Floppies Vol 2 – also available on Spotify in case you didn’t get a chance to pick up the limited hand-made edition! d^_^b
Just stumbled upon Simon Lord‘s debut album One today – it’s fascinating to hear him in an acoustic context vs. the more familiar (to me) Black Ghosts‘ electro-dance sound, or Simian‘s experimental psychedelia – and I’m finding it completely beautiful and absorbing. Sample it on Soundcloud, listen on Spotify, or buy the vinyl (with download) from Wonderfulsound. d^_^b
At long last, Fake Blood‘s debut full-length album, Cells, was released today! The new LP contains nothing from his prior singles except End of Days and the titular Yes / No from his most recent. While primarily consisting of the expected dark beats, there are some lighter moments, including appearances from fellow Black Ghost Simon Lord, and even a fairly obvious Giorgio Moroder/Donna Summer reference in Sideshow! Be sure to check out the Fake Blood Facebook page for some interesting tidbits on the concepts behind some of the tracks! d^_^b
Electric Six are my favorite “local” band – one of my absolute top favorite bands period – and I’ve seen them live a fair number of times. I’ve dragged a fair number of others along to experience them as well – but for those who still have yet to experience the thrill of Electric Six live, you can get tantalizingly close courtesy of their new live album, Absolute Pleasure!
There are so many little things that make the live shows special, and Absolute Pleasure captures many of them; my spiritual twin Tait Nucleus? (you can tell us apart by the fact that he as a CS1x, and I have a CS2X – oh, and that he actually does useful things with his!)’s little Smiths reference during Future Is in the Future for example, or Dick Valentine’s bizarre injection of Monifah lyrics into Danger! High Voltage! and WJLB Read More…
It may not quite be summer yet, but I’m going to go out on a limb and add Moonbootica – My Hot Dope to my 2012 Summer Bangers list right now! d^_^b
The Spotify iPad app is finally here, and it’s beautiful! Can’t wait to try AirPlay! d^_^b
Really enjoying Isolée – Beau Mot Plage – discovered (via Shazam!) via interstitial on Newsjack - which if you’ve not heard it is Radio 4 Extra’s user-contribution-based topical comedy show - also well worth a listen!
Whoa, suddenly Tubular Bells Part One and Two are available on spotify? For as long as I can remember, they were, perplexedly, missing among the various demo tracks etc. from the box set?!
